State Hwy 142 marks the northern boundary of Rio Grande Ranchos. The Rio Grande River runs along its eastern boundary. Hwy 248 runs through the middle of Rio Grande Ranchos connecting the area to State Hwy 285 near the town of Antonito and the Scenic Rail Road.
